Library

“There is no substitute for books in the life of a child” May Ellen Chase.

Our school library is well-stocked with a large range of fiction and non-fiction books suitable for Grade 1 through to Grade 7. We constantly source new titles in English and Afrikaans to keep our stock current.

All the learners from Grade 1 to Grade 6 come to the library for a planned lesson once a week. This is to promote literacy skills and to encourage them to become independents and life-long readers.

Every year we select learners from the Grade 6 classes as library prefects. Once trained, they assist in the library with various tasks at first break and after school. They are also responsible for a variety of interesting and colourful book displays throughout the year.

Competitions and quizzes for the various grades are held regularly as a means of encouraging and promoting reading.

In this technological age we still consider reading to be very important. We strive to keep abreast of suitable new publications, which we introduce to the learners in an interesting and informative manner.

The library is open at 1st break and after school from Monday to Thursday until 3.15 pm

“The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn the more places you’ll go.” Dr Seuss.
